Hartlepool United fan and love the away games, see new places and drink more than i can handle :) Normally random train journeys booked in advance so cheap as chips :)
Partner in crime Chris Ward (The wifes uncle, shares the same passion and somewhat craziness in following HUFC in the road)

Scunthorpe United (Oct 2013)
Ground :- Glanford Park
8:55am train to York for a connection to Scunthorpe via Doncaster
Few beers at the York Tap for our short hop to Scunny via Donny
Trains:-
Grand Central - Hartlepool to York
East Coast - York to Doncaster
Northern Rail - Doncaster to Scunthorpe
Pubs:-
York Tap
Blue Bell Inn (Scunthorpe)
Pumpkin Shop (Doncaster)
On arrival to Scunthorpe, cab ride to local Wetherspoons (Blue Bell Inn) by a friendly taxi driver (who gave me a card to call him), we lasted all of 10 minutes in here as somewhat the stereotypical rough pub and a phone call to Sanjay (our friendly cab driver), promptly picked us up and we proceeded to closer to the ground.
Ground was middle of industrial estate type , a good away crowd was a good number and good singing section.
Game well, a 1-0 defeat and a unlucky one at that!

Rochdale (Aug 2013)
Ground :- Spotland
First game of the season, 8:55am train to York for a connection to Rochdale via Leeds.
Few beers at the York Tap we missed our first train to Leeds, by 5 mins or so, so another 60 mins in the Tap and a nice carry out for us for our 2 hour journey to deepest Greater Manchester.
Trains:-
Grand Central - Hartlepool to York
Cross Country - York to Leeds
Northern Rail - Leeds to Rochdale
Pubs:-
York Tap
On arrival to Rochdale, cab ride to Spotland by a friendly guy who didn't know a game was happening, I suppose in an area with 15 or so clubs in a 20 mile radius this is the case.
Ground was quite tidy, away crowd was a good 700 and a weather was nice for an season opener.
Game well, a 3-0 defeat and a non-event to be honest...
Not many pubs in the area so could not comment, a cab ride back to Rochdale Railway and a few cans from the local corner shop for the Journey back to Hartlepool via York & Leeds.
