Ground :- Field Mill
Bit further afield but 8:55am train to York for a connection to Mansfield via Chesterfield & Nottingham
Managed a pint in the York Tap, quite a jaunt to Mansfield with a few changes and a long wait in Nottingham (and to Chris's annoyance, a lack of any watering hole close to the station, however a Tesco Express fixed that)
Trains:-
Grand Central - Hartlepool to York
Cross Country - York to Chesterfield
Cross Country - Chesterfield to Nottingham
East Midlands Trains - Nottingham to Mansfield
East Midlands Trains - Mansfield to Worksop
Northern Rail - Worksop to Newark
East Coast - Newark to York
Grand Central - York to Hartlepool
Pubs:-
York Tap
The Railway Inn (Mansfied)
The Mallard (Worksop)
On arrival to Mansfield, the ground was clearly visible and minutes walk away, we took local guidance and avoided the town centre bars as reputation is not too great, we took the local advice and ventured into the Railway Inn on the side of a Retail Park type thing. Pub was full of home fans, but friendly atmosphere and no problems. As our train was not until 18:20 we returned after the game and the fans were even friendlier despite the heavy defeat that Mansfield had suffered. Good banter and I enjoyed that.
Ground was OK, 3 sides in use and a good view of the action from behind the goal. Stewards didn't mind me standing throughout, however Nottinghamshire Constabulary proceeded to video me for the duration of the game, I challenged this and was told it was in a case I invaded the pitch, must of been my newly cut number two all over.....
Game, a 4-1 win totally unexpected, and a hi five from Jack Compton.
Railway Inn was a nice pub, Mallard in Worksop was a micro pub, enjoyed a raspberry beer before getting my next train to Newark. Nothing but a off license in Newark (few ciders) and change at York and back to Hartlepool for 10:20.
